Rev. John "Jack" Johnson
founder of St. John's Church of God in Christ had a vision for disadvantaged
individuals and families living in the Greater Capital Region. Rev. John's dream
was to establish a community, family and youth center that would educate an
empower. Rev. Johnson's dream is closer to becoming a reality with the creation
of St. John's Community Development Corporation (CDC).
Our Mission
The mission of the St. John's Community Development Corporation is to provide
community based human services to individuals and families whose problems stem
from criminality and or domestic violence, substance abuse, homelessness,
HIV/AIDS, mental illness, unemployment and lack of vocational training or
education. St. John's Community Development Corporation will concentrate our
efforts on the most fragile and under-served of the Capital Region's population.
Providing an array of services that build self-reliance and foster personal,
educational, and professional achievement.
St. John's Community Development Corporation will achieve its mission through
intensive community outreach., prevention, treatment and education, while
constantly building and maintaining cooperative working relationships with local
authorities, academic institutions and the communities in which they serve.
